Her extensive travels and participation in exhibitions in Eastern Europe, Armenia and Mexico have resulted in a wide reaching network of contacts with artists and curators. In b a s e m e n t (her studio in Vienna which transforms in to an exhibition space 3 times a year) projects and exhibitions utilising these contacts are presented. In her work she is concerned with the construction of personal worlds - personal utopias - by restructuring stereotypical representations of beauty and formations of power. She combines new media (photography, slide projection, printed transparent foils) with classical stitching techniques and uses luscious materials like silk, brocade and plush to produce opulent, alluring objects and installations that arouse desire. In 1992 she received a Bachelor of Arts (sculpture) from the Canberra Institute of Arts and in 1998 she graduated from RMIT University, Melbourne with a Master of Arts (Interior Design). |
