Through
cityartpublicspace (1993-1999) urbanart initiated and
promoted innovative approaches to contemporary art, the public audience
and the urban environment, by creating space for art dialogue in public
locations around Melbourne and internationally.

1993/99 Public Office, 100 Adderley Street, West Melbourne Transport Shelters The sites included vacant shopfronts, transport shelters, first floor windows, subways, multi storey vacant office buildings, advertising display boxes, building stairwells, city walls and streets. Artists temporarily occupied these spaces transforming them into spaces for art and dialogue between artists and the public audience, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The work shown was predominantly installation in style and site specific.
