substituting a gardener, sawmiller, potter, construction and forest worker,

suddenly an artist, as early as 1996 became president and researcher on
ornament. Since 1999 member of the group Die Halbe Wahrheit together with
S. Weissenbacher and M. Praska. Bury's work consists of textile works similar to wall carpets and pillows as well as wooden or metal sculptures (similar to functional objects) which concentrate on topics and elements found in our commercial society. The subjects for his stitched carpets are taken out of warehouse catalogues or trivial magazines. He uses basic forms reminding of hollow balls, eggs or pumpkins. They can be seen as places of retirement, of home and are related to experimental forms in architecture. Götz Bury |
