A Grade Report - Round 9

What a privilege to play a 2-day game.  After not having played a 2-day game since before Christmas, would anyone remember what one is?

On a scorcher of a day we hosted Walkerville, and with the wicket looking like an absolute belter, Stink tossed, and we were asked to bowl.  Why does he even bother with a coin?  Might as well just ask the opposition what they would like to do.

Big Waz and the Toothbrush opened up, (there's a song about Fat and Skinny I think??) and no one set the world one fire, but it was steady.  Walkerville did put on 50-odd for the opening partnership, but it was very slow going with the fielders setting up their picnic baskets and taunting the big guy, but try as we might, we couldn't get him to run.  At tea Walkerville were 3 down for a hundred odd, but we had bowled 53 overs, with our two gun off-spinners sending down overs at about 1 minute a time.  So at tea we set ourselves a target of keeping them under 200 (and by we, I mean General Von Weinmann told us what we wanted to do...).

After Tea we weren't at our best as a bowling unit, unable to avoid the boundary ball per over syndrome and as is often the way at Kingswood, we were punished.  Tommy (I have more hair than the Ainscough boys put together) Rodin was the pick of the bowlers for the day, finishing with 3-37.  Before tea HP Daley and Zac (I don't want to do a lap dance for your missus Dan) Treloar also bowled well.  Walkerville finished had the day at 7-236.

Day 2 and it was our turn to bat.  Andy (I'm too sexy for my shirt) Caire and Andy Cotton (Bud) opened up and we were about 1-50 at drinks, with Cairey the unlucky one.  Not long after Cotts followed him back for a stock standard 26 and the Elk did likewise making his 20-odd also.  I was personally disappointed when Smithy went for a dashing 15, the ball was flying off his blade and at Tea we were not in as good a position as we would have liked at 4-120. HP and Mickey (the human keg on legs) Nolan had seen out about 10 overs before tea.

After tea and, bring it on.  The boys narrowly missed the club A-grade record for 5th wicket partnership, putting on a magnificent 161 between them.  The Human Keg was first out, having made a blistering 111, followed not long after by HP, whose 86 showed all the class of someone who could be playing higher levels.   We had a bit of a dash for the rest of the day being all out on the last ball for 353.

A good win by the boys, shortly followed by the slave auction (Girls buy), where the clear stars were Von Stink's and Grandpa Dan's missus.  Unfortunately the pending sexual harassments filed some of the slaves prevents me from saying anymore than Cairey, only the slaves HAD to parade around without their shirts off!!
