A Grade Report - Round 7 Unley vs Athlestone

The first game of the new year and an important game.  We were now in fourth spot after the loss last week still in reach of the top three and we were taking on the fifth place Athlestone at Kingswood.  A loss would mean we would drop from the top four. Coming into the side Michael Grassy Nolan and Zac Harold Treloar for his first A Grade game for the club replacing Brenton Elvis Wilson and the rockstar Andrew Caire both dropped to the twos. Stinky had practiced his two-up over the Christmas break and won the toss and decided to bat. A couple of wickets early with Stink and Fine Cotton and we were 2/40. Chris TC Terry had been promoted up the order to four and he joined the Elk for a 100 plus run partnership. The half way score of 2/90 was a very solid platform and the second half saw runs come at will. Elk was out for 57 and TC for 71. Grassy and Hayden Arthur Daley then continued the run fest before haydos was run out for 31. Grassy notched up his fifty before being dismissed for 51. Zac Scrotum Treloar in his first game finished up 26 not out in a total of 7/282 of our 50 overs.

In the field Warren the President Ainscough dominated tearing through the top order bowling his 10 straight and took 4/46. Opening from the other end was Tom splinter Roden who took 1/18 of six. Old man Dan and CT then added a wicket each before Zac with his first A grade bowl bought two wickets taking 2/37 of 4 overs. We had bowled them out for 135. Chasing bonus points in the second innings with 17 overs to face, Stink smashed 68 and old man Dan 36 we finished up with 4/133. These bonus points turned out to be very important and with other results going our way we jumped to top position on the ladder.
