Web Master's Note - Martha Siwek

It is with a great deal of pleasure that photos of various classes have been included on this Website for your information. You will notice how eager and happy each of the participants are in attending to their activities. I have had the privilege of attending most of the classes in order to familiarize myself with not only the tutors and students but also the various subjects being undertaken by the many classes.

We are indeed very lucky to be part of the City of Wyndham which is set to have the second largest population in the Melbourne metropolitan area by 2026. It is expected that an additional 150,000 dwellings will be required in existing growth areas such as Wyndham and Melton. The Wyndham Council are proud to be associated with the seniors and apart from providing free rooms in which to hold U3A classes many other services are offered particularly for the disabled and the youth of our community. This added news is particularly directed to our friends interstate and overseas who wish to know more about our City Werribee.

President's Report - Serita Mudford

Newsletter time again and an opportunity to bring you all up to date with our activities. The movie and lunch group has begun with two very enjoyable movies seen so far. These movies provided much discussion over lunch and more information on this group is available in this Newsletter. The two Computer classes are continuing with vacancies available for newcomers. Our new Brief History of Espionage class is proving fascinating. The Intermediate Italian class is also off to a flying start.

We have been fortunate recently in being allocated three flat screen monitors from the Victorian Commission for Gaming Regulation. These will help modernise our computer systems. We did try for a photocopier but I guess, it was a little ambitious. This month I have had the pleasure of attending the quarterly meeting of U3A Network-Victoria Inc. in place of Alex Bain our usual delegate who was unavailable due to his attendance to a presentation on our U3A at a local Probus Club. Alex and I attended the recent launch of the U3A Moorabool at Bacchus Marsh. Both of these occasions allowed us to meet the new Network President, Ruth Hawley and to mingle and exchange ideas with other U3A's. Ruth and her husband, Graham, will be attending our Mid-Winter Luncheon where she is looking forward to meeting as many members as possible.

Orbituary - Roy Morris

It is with regret that we announce the death of Roy Morris, who has been a member of U3AWerribee for two years.

When Roy passed away, I spoke with his wife Pam who said how much Roy loved his Friday morning Bridge. Roy was a gentleman and we will all miss him - Message from Anne Cairns.
