HAPPY NEW YEAR, BEST WISHES TO ALL
FOR A HEALTHY AND HAPPY 2008
THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING WILL BE HELD AT THE COMMUNITY CENTRE, CENTRAL PARK , LONSDALE CIRCUIT ON WEDNESDAY 20TH FEBRUARY 2008, COMMENCING AT 1.30 P.M.
This year, very unusually, our 5 senior executives will all retire from their positions - some from choice, others by rules - so it is vital that capable members step forward to take responsibility for the future of the Association.
And the future promises to be exciting:
membership is rising, meaning new faces and friendships;
more members lead to more Courses;
more Courses promises greater variety in the curriculum;
in total then, a vibrant, interesting, and rewarding future.Please give serious consideration to joining what will be almost a new management body. The retiring President would welcome calls from anyone who wishes to make enquiries on any aspect of the duties and responsibilities, all without further obligation to proceed. Phone 9741 8221, or e-mail gandab1@bigpond.com

It was tentatively suggested that the Term 1 programme be devoted to Anthropology, but this topic was examined in Term 4 of 2006 in a series entitled "Faces of Culture." Accordingly, the selected programme is a series of video documentaries entitled "Civilisation", which traces the development of human skills, philosophies, politics, humanitarianism, etc; a different study, but not unrelated to anthropology, which traces genetic and biological development. "Civilisation" consists of thirteen episodes, narrated by Sir Kenneth Clark, and traverses the period from the Dark Ages to the beginning of the 20th Century.
