A message From President Marie Dunn

Our AGM on 19th November was a great success with 50 members attending, Peter Sommerville was an excellent speaker, showing his passion for the Maribyrnong River and its environs, in the knowledge he imparted of the changes which had occurred over the years. I hope everyone present enjoyed hearing its history and I am sure this prompted the quick response from so many to take to the water on the "Blackbird" on the 24th of January.

It was pleasing to see the memorabilia people brought in to celebrate Federation as well as the Calligraphy display and Craft items.

Re the "Blackbird" trip, we now have a full quota of 30 passengers but am reminding everyone the bus is leaving at 9.30 am from Federal Street on 24 th January, lunch to follow will be at the Yarraville Pub at your own expense.

Just a reminder too, that Clean up day for our much used venue will be February 4th with our committee meeting following at 1 Pm that day. Enrolment day is February 5 th.

Classes will resume on the first designated day of the following week. Would Committee members collect their minutes from the pigeon holes in the office.

This advance news to note in your diary is that Seniors' Week has been renamed officially as the Seniors' Festival and extends from 9th March to 22nd March includsive. In that period is U3A Day on 12th March. Presumably Coles supermarkets will have booklets available giving details of all activities.

I am sure you will all join with me in thanking our past President Mavis Marshall, for the work she has done over the past 3 years. "Well done Mavis".
