U3A Members Involvement in a local film.

A number of Western Region U3A's members got involved in the making of a local film. The film called Fairy Bred was the creation of Gail Thomlinson, a student of the Victorian College of the Arts, and friend of Yvonne Daws.

Gail Tomlinson, a long time friend of Yvonne Daws and a post graduate student of the Victorian College of the Arts wanted some extras for a film she was making as her final presentation at the college.

Yvonne, herself volunteering to be involved sought out other likely candidates, some from U3A Footscray. No speaking lines were involved, just be part of the story. The story was about Dulcie a Tooth Fairy who on arrival at the Sprites Co. tea room learned that the company was under new management and that all the buzzwords were being used - downsize, restructure, etc. - to make the company more efficient.

Fairies, having lost their ability to fly, used bicycles to get around. Without letting out the whole storyline we can say that Dulcie's abilities shone through and all ended well. Tessie O'Shea's "Nobody loves a Fairy when she's Forty" was quite apt as was other humourous touches.

Other U3A members as extras were, Ann Diwoka, and Valerie greelish. As well as acting as an extra, Yvonne with Eric also got roped in to help Gails mother, Gloria, in providing the catering for cast and crew. there was on the average about 40 to cater for.
