| Computer Tips & Tricks
Hosted by Eric Daws |
The course, Tips and Tricks is intended to provide both basic and advanced items to supplement the teaching of other courses and to expand your knowledge of computing. |
| In the first term of 2003,
the class dealt with the choice of software to produce
a 140 year calendar, and that a spreadsheet [Excel] with its inbuilt math functions was the
better choice.
One of the functions used was weekday() which aided in selecting
the one of seven monthly calendars, for the year and month desired.
The use of a document scanner and the Optical Character Recognition software to create a text editable file was the topic of the start of second term. In all some eleven or more items were covered during the year. The majority are listed in the tutors report for the 2003 Annual General meeting. |
