Privacy Statement for U3A Bendigo.

U3A Bendigo collects information from members on enrolment and keeps records of members' class attendance and payment of subscriptions, and for tutors of their qualifications.

As with all incorporated bodies we are required to keep records of members names, addresses and financial status. We also record their date of birth and their gender. For ordinary administrative requirements we also require telephone numbers, and to facilitate class provision we keep records of members' interests and skills. We also ask for information on members' work experience, and ask what help they can offer to the business of U3A.

This information is kept in hard copy in the secretary's files, where it is not available to other members, and also on a database. Ordinary members may access the database and obtain other members' addresses and telephone numbers, but where a member has requested that either of these be kept private, they are accessible only by members of the executive. Also available to members is whether they are listed to receive the monthly newsletter.

U3A Bendigo occasionally publishes, with its newsletter, lists of members with addresses and phone numbers, again withholding information specified as private.

U3A Bendigo does not provide information about our members to outside bodies unless required by law. We cannot prevent the lists published with the newsletter being accessed by outside bodies.

If you have any questions about this policy, please approach the Secretary.
