Road Hazards - What should you do about hazards on the road?

* If there is a brick, stone, log or other obstruction on the road that could be a danger to other motorcyclists, please consider stopping in a safe place and removing the item.

* If there is loose gravel or an oil spillage on a corner, please consider stopping in a safe place before the corner and warning approaching motorcyclists to slow down.

* If you think a section of road in Victoria is hazardous, (pot hole, loose gravel, oil spill, etc.) please leave a message on the VicRoads Road Condition Reporting Line on 03 - 9854 2899, or speak to someone by ringing 131 170.

* For Traffic Signal Faults in Victoria, please also ring 131 170.

* Australian Design Rules allow a + or - tolerance of 10km/hr on speedometers at 100 km/hr. So if you are riding at an indicated 100km/hr you could be actually going up to 110km/hr. The State Gov't does not allow for this tolerance and can fine you for any detected speed over the posted limit. So if you see a $peed Camera, or similar revenue generating hazard on the road, please slow right down and warn following riders with a palm down gesture. Each member should do this (or someone could even stop at the hazard) to bunch up the following riders and save their hip pocket nerves.  If the hazard is on the other side of the road, it would be considerate to advise motorcyclists and others going the other way of the hazard, but don't get caught flashing your lights, as it is said to be illegal.

* If you think a fellow rider is a risk to others, (passing near corners, passing on the left, following too close, riding too fast, or riding while drunk, etc.) please tell them of your concerns and also let some committee members know so that they may also monitor the person's behaviour.

Two Bays branch hope that each ride is safe and enjoyable for all.
