Welcome to the Terang Urban Fire Brigade

Our brigade is a 100% volunteer fire service established on 8th February 1902.

Terang is situated in South Western Victoria, 260km from Melbourne and 45 km north-east of Warrnambool.

Terang has a population of around 2,000.

Our major industries include:
  • Terang & Mortlake Health Service
  • May Noonan Hostel
  • McVilly Treated Timber
  • Ridley Feed Mill
  • Bushman’s Tanks
  • SPI Powernet Terminal Station
Appropriately the Country Fire Authority has classed Terang Urban Fire Brigade as having a structure with wildfire risk level.

Terang Urban Fire Brigade is supported, and provides secondary support to the neighbouring rural brigades of Noorat, Terang/Dixie, Garvoc, The Sisters and Boorcan; and the Urban Brigades of Camperdown, Cobden and Mortlake.

Whilst the volunteers provide a 24X7 emergency response coverage, members are also involved in a number of community activities, including:

  • Co-ordinating the local fund-raising for the Royal Children’s Hospital.
  • Hosting Kindergarten and Primary School station visits
  • Santa escorts
  • Marching on Anzac day
