About CT All about Club Tractor.....

The Club Tractor Story:
It's Regular!

Club Tractor is underpinned by the belief that energy and a bit of fun aren't the enemy of 'serious' or thought provoking content. In our print on paper publications an attempt has been made to combine engaging material on the arts, politics, popular culture and current issues whilst including, or placing beside this, a level of light heartedness. There have been 10 issues of CT magazine since the publication started in December 1993.

Under the banner of Club Tractor, a fictitious corporate entity, CT magazine has covered topics such as: the revamp of Swanston Walk, the Quambatook Tractor Pull, local independent and national contemporary art exhibitions and related issues, the UN in Cambodia, the use of 'Xray vision' in film, current advertising strategies, the effect of arcade games on dreaming, a six part history of the travels of Young & Jacksons Chloe, trashy tourist attractions and Jane's perspective on life in the jungle with Tarzan.

On an interactive level CT has also included cut and fold lift outs which over a number of issues contributed to the construction of a farmyard diorama. The magazine has also included a Dear CT column and free news listing service.

The 'image' of Club Tractor preceded the publication. It began as a kind of propaganda campaign which involved the creating of an image of something that existed but didnšt. 'Club Tractor' has as its prime investment a Holiday resort. Built in the shape of a tractor, this 35 storey mirror clad building stands tall over the wheat paddocks of Central Victoria.

Club Tractor, led by the slogan "It's Regular!", made its introduction to the world of the visual arts in early 1993 when it 'sponsored' an exhibition which showed in Melbourne & Sydney called The Game Show. In 1994 Club Tractor 'sponsored' an exhibition involving 30 Melbourne artists which showed in Melbourne & Adelaide. Also, as part of the aim of maintaining a sense of energy and access, Club Tractor ran a weekly event at a hotel in North Melbourne. These nights included regular exhibitions, live music, readings by Melbourne writers and films.
