Brigade Appliances

The Torquay Fire Brigade employs 5 appliances to service and protect the local and surrounding communities. Here are some of the details about our current appliances.
Torquay being an urban community is also situated in an area of grass, scrub and bushland. This presents the brigade with approximately 140 call outs per year for a wide range of jobs. To assist the brigade in attending and effectively servicing these wide and varied jobs, we are lucky to have a range of different fire fighting appliances.

torquay pumper
The Torquay Pumper is used primarily for response to incidents in urban areas such as house fires, road accidents, gas leaks etc. This appliance services the majority of the jobs which the brigade is dispatched to. The truck carry’s a maximum crew of six and carry’s a range of equipment including but not limited to Breathing apparatus, hoses, hydrant, ladders, protective equipment, extinguishers, etc.

torquay tanker 1

Torquay Tanker 1 is primarily designed for combating wildfire. However, this appliance can also be deployed to urban incidents such as house fires, road accidents, etc.. The truck carries a maximum crew of 6 and is equipped with a range of tools for fire suppression, such as hoses, ladders, hydrant, Breathing apparatus, etc. This truck allows the brigade to quickly respond to just about any type of situation.

Torquay Tanker 2

Stationed at Bellbrae, Torquay Tanker 2 is a CFA owned appliance which is primarily used for wildfire suppression. It carries a maximum crew of 6 with three fire fighters sitting in the back of the truck. The equipment used on this truck is similar to that of Tanker 1, and it can also be responded to urban situations if required.

Torquay Tanker 3 Stationed at Torquay, Torquay Tanker 3 is a Brigade owned appliance and is the newest in the fleet. It is primarily used for wildfire suppression. It carries a maximum crew of 6 with three fire fighters sitting in the back of the truck. The equipment used on this truck is similar to that of Tanker 1, and it can also be responded to urban situations if required.

new tanker

Torquay Slip-on is Stationed at Bellbrae and is the newest of the Brigade owned vehicles and was purchased with the assistance of CSESP grant. It is a vehicle which is used for off-road terrain which is difficult for the tankers to access. It carries 500 litres of water and can use A class foam. It has already proved its worth at a number of grass and scrub fires in very steep terrain.

Collar Tank Trailer Stationed at Bellbrae is owned by the CFA and can be used at grass and scrub fires where there is a limited water supply.
