Tais Project
Timorlink is currently establishing contacts with weaving cooperatives in East Timor. On this side of the Timor Sea we are working hard to find retailers to sell these and other Timorese crafts. Tais are colourful, traditional weavings, which can be sarong size down to scarf size. They can also be made into dresses and bags.

Getting the Van to Timor
So far, Timorlink has raised over $1,000 to get a van to an orphanage in Dili. Katrina will be driving the Van loaded with goods to Darwin, from where it will be shipped across to Dili. In the mean time, our job ahead is to raise more money to make sure it has petrol and for shipping costs. Katrina will be embarking on her epic voyage through the red centre to Darwin, in August this year. We hope fanfares, radio interviews and generous donations await her along the way.

Baptist Union
With the help of Timorlink, two people recently completed a five day trip to East Timor on behalf of the Baptist Union trip Meewon and Margaret stayed with Chloe (our Timor Field Officer) in her house in Mascarena. They were looking at women's organisations and found several they were willing to support, as well as an orphanage. This is a big boost for Timorlink. Now we have one successful project under our belts!

Next Meeting
Meetings are held fortnightly. The next meeting will be held at the Office in Trades Hall (Rm 49) at 6:30pm on Wednesday 3rd July. Call the office for further details. All welcome.
