Timorlink is a non profit volunteer organisation which was established. in 2001 to support the many groups in East Timor that do not directly benefit from international aid. Timorlink aims to help Australians participate directly in helping Timorese community groups help themselves.

Timorlink's approach of linking groups in partnerships is an exciting and personal way of helping the people of East Timor.

Timorlink one-to-one approach:

  • eliminates administration costs and removes cumbersome layers of bureaucracy.
  • creates positive long lasting relationships.
  • encourages self help.
  • empowers East Timorese to take control of their own interests.
  • provides rapid communication and quickly builds positive morale in both East Timor and in Australia.
  • builds a support network which is focused on the evolving needs of the country as it rebuilds.

    Timorlinks core activities are:

  • Providing contact information on groups in East Timor,
  • Building sister organisation relationships between groups with similar objectives,
  • Supporting fundraising activities,
  • Helping groups collect and transport goods and materials to East Timor,
  • Providing a focal point for co-ordination of activaties between groups,
  • Supporting the participating organisations with publicity.
