Welcome to one of the oldest but most active Art Societies in Melbourne!

Our regular Exhibitions showcase the work of our local artists and both well known and emerging talent from around the Dandenongs and its foothills. At each opening (usually 2pm on the first Sunday of the exhibition) there is a guest speaker and refreshments served. Exhibitions run for up to a month and happen throughout the year. These are open from 11am to 4pm Sundays and other days as per the board out the front of the building or contact us for details.

We run both friendly untutored groups and also provide skilled tution, classes usually conducted on a weekly basis at various times during the day, evening and on some weekends. We also offer monthly one day workshops in various specialized skills such as printmaking and mosaic. Poetry and Music continues to be a popular regular activity at The Hut also.

The Hut has a comprehensive Collection of works purchased over the years since the Ferntree Gully Arts Society began back in 1944. Some of our history is documented on this web site also.

In JULY we have the annual print, drawing and computer art exhibition showcasing some exciting and innovative works created by our members. Also, every OCTOBER we have our Annual Exhibition allowing all of our members to exhibit and vie for prizes which include the coveted Grand Prize sponsored by the Knox Council, the Gavin Kleinert Pastel ( including Charcoal) prize, as well as the Lal and Mae Boully Student Encouragement Prize.

Our regular sponsors include The City of Knox, Karin Orpen, Studio 356 in Wantirna (for the Print Prize) and Webshops Pty Ltd in Dorset Rd.

Poetry at the Hut - Bi-monthly on the 3rd sunday beginning in February from 3.30pm to 5.30pm. This is extremely popular so arrive early.
