Winter has come to the The Hut Gallery, the home of the Ferntree Gully Arts Society. The cold is no obstacle though as we have a stunning new and refurbished gallery and studio space with a brand new kitchen and bathrooms. There is a lot to do when the winter chill stops us going outside. We combine art appreciation and practice with inspiring learning activities in a friendly social environment. We have regular exhibitions of the works of our local artists and showcase both well known and up and coming talent around the Dandenongs. At each opening there is usually a guest speaker and refreshments served. Exhibitions run for about a month and happen throughout the year. We currently offer classes in painting and drawing. We have skilled tutors who run classes usually conducted on a weekly basis at various times both during the day and on some weekends. We also offer monthly one day workshops in various specialized skills such as Printmaking and mosaic. Poetry and Music continues to be a popular regular activity at The Hut also. The Hut has a comprehensive Collection of works purchased over the years since the Ferntree Gully Arts Society began back in 1944. Some of our history is documented on this web site also. Check out our Exhibition schedule below. Open to the public from 11am to 4pm Sundays and other times as advertised. We also have our Annual Exhibition in October allowing all of our members to exhibit and vie for prizes which include the coveted Grand Prize sponsored by the Knox Council, the Gavin Kleinert Pastel/Charcoal prize sponsored by One Stop Art, Ferntree Gully, as well as the Lal and Mae Boully Student Encouragement Prize. |
