2009 PRODUCTION

Superheroes is a fun musical set in Melbourne (the only city founded by Batman).

Professor Egghead has invented a machine to turn ordinary people into superheroes, but unfortunately it has a few glitches.

His scientists and programmers are working hard to fix the problems, Melbourne is under threat from a nasty underbelly gang called the Meanies who are keen to steal the machine and get superpowers.

Foreign governments too are anxious to get hold of it. Will the decent folk of Melbourne win the day? Or will the baddies triumph and take over the world?

This original new play is a musical set in present-day Melbourne. Lots of singing, dancing, colourful costumes, and drama.

The 46 young performers are aged 9 to 16 and mainly come from Boroondara.

This year sees the 30th production for the Track Youth Theatre. Apart from one play (The Hobbit, 1981) all plays have been written by Australians, including 10 by parents and friends in the group.
