TESTIMONIAL

"My heartfelt Congratulations to Ed and Maureen Bailey on 30 years of the roar of the greasepaint and the smell of the crowd with Track Youth Theatre.

I am eternally in their debt. The moment I commenced with the group in 1985, I knew I would never be the same.

Ed taught me about concentration, communication, co-operation and commitment. Maureen taught me how to box-step and can-can, I learned that if I really put my mind to it, I'd never have to do a real job in my life.

Thankyou Ed & Maureen -- now my Mum's got four boys who between them can't even change a lightbulb. We do however know to project, to never have our back to the audience and we wouldn't dare even consider peeking through the curtains. Here's to the next thirty years... (cough)."

Stephen Curry (better known as Happy Villager No. 4 from "Man of Steel" in '85.)

HISTORY

The group started in 1980 and produced its first production at the old Pumpkin Theatre in Richmond. Because of the size of the group, the following year we performed at the Renaissance Theatre in Kew, (at Kew High School) and have been there ever since.

AIMS

The group aims to help children, not just with the development of theatrical skills, but with more valuable life skills such as self-esteem, respect for others, self-confidence in front of groups, etc. Children are not auditioned. Anyone is eligible to join regardless of ability.

STATISTICS

We typically have 40 to 50 children, with about 30 in the children's group and 15 in the teenage group. Current Distribution by sex is normally from 35% to 50% boys. Most come from the city of Boroondara.
