Recreation Reserve Celebrates 100 Years
On the weekend of 27th & 28th May 2006, Tatong celebrated the Centenary of the Recreation Reserve.

On Saturday, Centenary cups were presented to the winners of A B & C Grade Netball and the Reserves and Seniors Football. Goorambat were the winners of all 5 cups.
That evening Couchgrass provided the music for the centenary dance.

The ‘Beau’ of the night was Dennis Hevey whilst Grace Smith was the ‘Star’.

On Sunday the memorabilia display attracted much reminiscing.
Old fashioned games were popular with the younger members of the community.
A BBQ lunch was served by the Young Bloods before the Commemorative Plaque was officially unveiled by Dr Bill Sykes MP, and a time capsule was buried by Councillor Bill Hill.
Mrs Betty McCauley, a granddaughter of one of the first trustees of the Reserve, planted a tree -

- and Miss Nita McCauley, a local identity, cut the centenary cake.
Winners of the raffle were:
Mrs Mavis McCauley - Dinner Set
Dr Bill Sykes - Baking Dish
Rosemary Williams - Gift Voucher from Millers Benalla.

The committee would like to thank Stolz and Millers for donating the raffle items and Elders for their sponsorship
