Yorkshire Mine, Tarnagulla, 2014
These are the massive foundations for the winding and air compressing plants. Construction was completed in early 1900 following a reorganisation of the company which included widening and lengthening the shaft from a very small 6 feet by 3 feet six inches to eleven feet by three feet six inches. The winding drums sat atop the foundations and were very securely bolted deeply into the base.
