Catherine Mary Stubbs, 1826-1920

Kate Kirwan was born in Ireland. She married William Stubbs and with him conducted the Rising Sun Hotel at Sandy Creek/Tarnagulla, one of the first hotels to be licensed (1854) in the district. After Stubbs's death, Kate married Wiliam McGregor and conducted the Half Way Hotel near the Tarnagulla Cemetery and after that the Maidentown Hotel at Llanelly. Kate was a well-known and highly respected figure for many years at Tarnagulla and Llanelly, as were all members of her family.
