Laanecoorie Identity - William Tupper
William Tupper - born Nova Scotia, British America 1829
Arrived in Victoria 1852 and in Laanecoorie in 1857 where he combined farming and a butchery business.
A member of the Marong Shire Council for many years, he was thrice Shire President.
He was Chairman of the first Committee elected on 31 August 1889 to form the Laanecoorie Mechanics' Institute.
