Opened an agency of the Victorian Producers Cooperative in Laanecoorie after WWI and was very skilled in trading grains cattle and sheep.
He was prominent in all facets of Community life in Laanecoorie including football, tennis and the church, secretary of the Hall Committee and an original member of the Fire Brigade. He was awarded the British Empire Medal for his services to the Community.
He was a Councillor on the Bet Bet Shire Council and President a record number of times
