NEW ROUND OF VICTALENT GRANTS NOW OPEN

The Nationals Member for Benalla, Bill Sykes encourages community sport and recreation organisations in the Benalla electorate to apply for funding through the Victalent funding program.

Dr Sykes said, “This funding program provides a $500 travel assistance grant to community sport and recreation organisations in country Victoria to assist athletes, coaches, officials and teams with the travel costs associated with participating in training and competition.”

Dr Sykes said, “One of the biggest issues for country young people is the distances they often need to travel in order to compete or take up specialised training opportunities. High fuel costs can make this difficult, especially for those families also struggling to meet the many additional costs in raising children.”

Applications for round two close on 1 March 2010 for travel between 1 July 2010 – 31 December 2010.
