Sykes alerts Electorate to the Victorian Community History Awards for 2008

The Nationals Member for Benalla, Bill Sykes, has called on all community groups with an interest in local history to consider applying for the Victorian Community History Awards for 2008.

Dr Sykes stated that The Victorian Community History Awards acknowledge that history can be presented in a variety of formats and recognises excellence across a variety of categories:-

  • best collaborative/community work;

  • best print/publication;

  • best audio-visual/ multimedia;

  • best exhibit/display;

  • best walk/tour;

  • best community research/register/records

The award encompasses a $5,000 first prize and six $1,000 prizes for the finalists of each category. Entries close on Friday 28 March 2008 and are judged on content and presentation in the spirit of presenting innovative ways of recording community history across the State.

Entrants are urged to review previous winners- via Information Victoria’s website www.information.vic.gov.au
