Mond Tuesday, 20 June 2006 SYKES CALLS FOR REGIONAL AWARD NOMINATIONS Nationals Member for Benalla, Bill Sykes, is encouraging individuals, businesses and community groups in the Benalla Electorate to nominate for the 2006 Regional Achievement and Community Awards. “The awards highlight and reward the valuable contribution of businesses, groups, individuals and communities who are involved in making rural and regional Victoria a better place to live,” Dr Sykes said. The awards, now in their fifth year, have added new categories this year with the aim of paying tribute to rural and regional Victorians. “Our achievers deserve acknowledgement and recognition, and I encourage everyone to consider making a nomination,” Dr Sykes said. Nominations are open in the following categories:-
Dr Sykes said the prizes included television exposure on Prime Television (conditions apply) or a share in $12,000 in AwardSaver Accounts from the Commonwealth Bank. A gala awards dinner and presentation evening will be held in Ballarat on Saturday 14 October, to honour the rural and regional achievers. About 300 guests, including the three finalists in each category, are expected to attend this prestigious event.
