WEARY DUNLOP AWARD DOUBLE

Parents and students at Benalla 31 School’s Grade 6 graduation night were pleasantly surprised when Nationals Member for Benalla, Bill Sykes, presented two people with the Weary Dunlop You’ve Got What It Takes Award.

Student, Stacie Sampson, was thrilled to receive her award in recognition of her resilience, respect for others, leadership and honesty.

Equally thrilled and somewhat surprised was Principal, Heather Leary, upon receipt of her Weary Dunlop Award.

Dr Sykes said, “Heather Leary epitomises the five principles of the You Can Do It Program which she has put so much effort into having successfully implemented in many schools in north east Victoria.

“Heather’s confidence shines through in the ‘sparkle in her eyes and the smile on her dial’”.

“Heather’s ability to get along with others is evident in her good working relationship with fellow Benalla Primary School principals.

“An active role in the effective implementation of the You Can Do It Program and the Wrap Around Kids Program are testimony to Heather’s organisational skills.”

“And Heather’s persistence and resilience are self evident as she, like all of us, confronts life’s challenges.”

Dr Sykes concluded, “I look forward to Heather and Stacie joining fellow Weary Dunlop You’ve Got What It Takes Award winners from around the Electorate to visit Parliament House as my guest or to attend a Brisbane Lions Football Game in Melbourne as guests of mine and the Brisbane Lions who jointly sponsor the award.”
