SYKES THANKS GOULBURN
MURRAY WATER FOR PROMPT RESPONSE TO PARADISE POINT WORKS
The Nationals Member for Benalla, Bill
Sykes, has welcomed Goulburn Murray Water’s prompt response to requests
from locals for fire hazard reduction works at Paradise Point, Lake
Eildon.
Dr Sykes said “Goulburn Murray Water’s
immediate response to a request for fire hazard reduction works to take
place in the next month at Paradise Point is to be commended.”
“The shore line of Lake Eildon sees
considerable vegetation growth over the spring – summer seasons and poses
quite a fire hazard.”
“I am really pleased that Goulburn Murray
Water have included Paradise Point in their annual fire hazard reduction
project,“ continued Dr Sykes.
“It’s also positive to hear that Goulburn
Murray Water are working with the Country Fire Authority to improve their
management plan of this area and in a number of others.”
While Goulburn Murray Water are on the
right track with their fire hazard reduction works Dr Sykes said, “It’s
timely to remind private landholders to do their bit and clean up before
the fire danger period hits.”
“Many landholders implement their own fire
hazard reduction works in association with district groups, however we
need to remind everyone to do their bit to ensure fire risk is minimised.”
