Bill Sykes alerts Tennis and Cricket Clubs to funding The Nationals Member for Benalla, Bill Sykes, encourages all tennis and cricket clubs in the Benalla Electorate to apply for grants under the current funding rounds on offer. “This is a great opportunity for clubs to improve their facilities and attract greater memberships,” said Dr Sykes. Tennis Victoria in association with Vic Health, are once again offering grants of up to $1,000 per project to clubs as part of their ongoing commitment to Healthy Club Environments under the 2005 Shade Grant scheme. The grants will be made to clubs who are looking to improve their facilities by erecting permanent shade structures. To be successful clubs must encourage and promote sun protection behaviour; quotes and plans must be provided; and, they must complete the projects within 6 months of notification of their success. Applications are now being called for, and are open until 11 November 2005. The project must then be completed by 31 May 2006. Guidelines and application forms can be obtained from the Tennis Victoria web site http://www.tennisvic.com.au/pages/Default.aspx?id=3&pageID=1314 or contact my office on 03 5762 2100 for further information. For cricket clubs, funding is available under the Cricket Victoria Grants Program to assist clubs and associations in providing opportunities for people to play cricket. Funding is available for up to 50% of the project cost, and eligible projects include the development and expansion or improvement of playing or practice facilities including practice nets, synthetic centre and practice wickets, and upgrades to existing turf wickets. Constituted and registered incorporated clubs and bodies based in Victoria are being encouraged to apply. Applications are now being called for and are open until 10 February 2006, projects must commence after 1 January 2005 and be completed by 1 January 2007.
