CHURCHILL TRUST FELLOWSHIPS

The Nationals Member for Benalla, Bill Sykes wishes to encourage motivated people to apply for one of the 100 Fellowships being made available by the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust.

“The Churchill Trust is seeking applications from Australian citizens over 18 years of age that have a passion for knowledge, motivation to study in their chosen field further abroad, and who have a willingness to share their findings with other Australians” said Dr Sykes.

No formal qualifications are required and any topic of study or research will be considered on its merits, however a strong community benefit must be displayed at a local, State or National level.

The aim of the Trust is to reward Australians striving for excellence. “We are fortunate to have such an inspirational institution providing these Fellowships” said Dr Sykes.

The Fellowships are worth on average, $25,000.00 each, and include a return airfare and overseas living allowance.

As part of the 2006 round of Fellowships 8 special Fellowships will address issues of concern to younger Australians so that the Trust remains relevant to our youth and continues to provide a platform for research into topics that will benefit all Australians.

Applications open on 1 November 2005 and close on 28 February 2006. Fellowships will be awarded in June 2006.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for members of our Benalla Electorate to pursue further study in their area of interest, and I strongly encourage people to use this platform and to nominate for a Fellowship” Dr Sykes said.
