SYKES – DISCUSSIONS
REGARDING LEAGUE BOUNDARIES TO CONTINUE
The Nationals Member for Benalla, Bill
Sykes, said that one of the major issues of concern was accommodating the
football and netball futures of players, families and supporters
associated with the Thornton/Eildon, Alexandra and Yea Football and
Netball clubs.
Dr Sykes said, “These clubs recognise the
concerns regarding long distances other clubs are required to travel to
play games at Thornton/Eildon, Alexandra and Yea.
“The three clubs have proposed some
creative solutions to the VCFL and discussions are continuing between the
clubs’ spokesperson, Andrew Embling, and Glenn Scott, of the VCFL.
“I encourage all clubs with concerns about
VCFL proposals to raise those concerns with the Glenn Scott.
Dr Sykes concluded, “From my experiences in
handling many similar situations the key to achieving a successful outcome
is for the involved parties to continue discussions with a focus on
solving the problems at hand. I will continue to assist in the interests
of protecting football, netball and our small country communities.
