VICHEALTH FUNDING FOR
THE BENALLA ELECTORATE
The Nationals Member for Benalla, Bill
Sykes, today congratulated sporting clubs in the Benalla Electorate which
have been successful in gaining funding from the 2005 VicHealth Sports
Injury Prevention Scheme.
Dr Sykes said the program aimed to improve
the safety of sporting environments and reduce the likelihood of injury
while promoting healthy participation.
“This year there were approximately 630
applications received from sporting clubs across Victoria, and the
VicHealth program will provide $596,303 in grants this year to 369
sporting clubs to help reduce sports injuries.
“It is pleasing to see that six sporting
clubs in the Benalla Electorate were successful.

Benalla Hockey Association Inc $1,307
Benalla Rovers Soccer Club $1,930
Benalla Saints Sports Club Inc $1,474
Moyhu Football Club $1,700
Myrtleford Football Club Inc $2,000
Dr Sykes concluded, “I congratulate these
clubs for their efforts to provide safe sporting environments for their
players and I encourage all sporting organisations to watch the Vichealth
website www.vichealth.vic.gov.au for further funding opportunities.
