QUOTE FROM BILL SYKES
– RE: WOODS POINT POSTAL SERVICE
The Nationals Member for Benalla, Bill
Sykes, arranged for Australia Post Southern Operations Manager for
Victoria and Tasmania, Peter Bass, to meet with locals last Thursday
regarding the implications a change in contractors imposed on locals.
After hearing the news that Australia Post
has reversed the decision and are now awarding the contract to Stewart’s
Bus Services Dr Sykes had this to say…
“This is an excellent result, driven by the
fantastic effort of the local community and it’s a real victory for common
sense. The decision is a credit to the people of Woods Point, Jamieson and
the Upper Goulburn River Valley.
“I am pleased to have contributed to this
outcome by arranging a meeting at Woods Point and Jamieson to enable local
people to make their point of view loud and clear.
“I also commend the work done by The
Nationals Senator, Julian McGauran and Member for Indi, Sophie Panopoulos.
“I would like to personally thank local
councillor, Russell Bates, for his commitment, feedback and support.
“By visiting Woods Point, Mr Peter Bass,
has sent a clear message to the public that Australia Post has not
forgotten that their decisions affect lives… and management is about
people as much as it is about dollars and cents.
