Preferred genres are high interest stories about relationships or people and values. Maximum length 2500 words. Readability (e.g. grades 6–8) can be quite high for these “advanced” or “extension” stories. Payment is by flat fee (negotiated with the successful writer). It might be graphic, with lots of physical detail, or it might be more emotional, but something makes it involving. This workshop will look at sex scenes in commercial and literary fiction and discuss what makes them sizzle. We will discuss what kind of sex scene you want to write, where your limits lie and where you want to push them. And you will do exercises that address the compelling nature of a sex scene.
