This contest challenges participants to write an original poem in 48 hours with one catch - the final poem must include ten words provided by the competition. Participants will have 48 hours to use each of these words at least once in an original poetry composition.

Awards in 2012

15 years Arts Awards entrants have been painting, writing and sculpting
pieces that reflect their cancer journey. The awards are open to people
of all ages, from anywhere in the world. The theme for 2012 is

The Nillumbik Ekphrasis Poetry Award
The Nillumbik Ekphrasis Poetry Award is an exciting initiative presented for the first time in 2012. Ekphrasis is a genre of poetry that explores works of art?usually paintings, photographs, or statues. Ekphrastic poetry seeks to interpret or ‘get inside’ its visual subject. Poets are invited to respond to one or more of twelve artworks selected from the Nillumbik Shire Council Visual Art Collection. Each poem must be no longer than twelve lines, and may be in any genre of poetry. The twelve artworks will be exhibited in the Nillumbik Shire Council Office foyer and on the Nillumbik Shore Council website. First prize: $500. For further information email
