"Boy Overboard"

A very good account of a young boy and his family fleeing Afghanistan, only to end up in Nauru. Written for children, it would be suitable for anyone over the age of about ten I think, and as an adult I certainly found it powerful and it moved me to tears several times. A wonderful way of conveying to more Australians and especially children, what a terrible thing we are doing to refugee parents and children; and some of the reasons why people have to flee here, and the terrors of the journey. It portrays both sides of Australia's reaction, compassion and shame, as well as coldness and racism.
