2004 Electric Day The Electric Day held on Sunday 22nd August 2004 was a great success. Over 70 models were counted in the pit area with pilots coming from as far as Maryborough. Winds ranged from dead calm to a light westerly in the morning and a light easterly in the afternoon. Temps got to a beautiful 26C...... just perfect for flying anything, and 'anything' seemed to get a fly on the day ranging from scale multi-engine works of art to flapping ornithopters. The buzz word for the day was LITHIUM. Lithium batteries have really allowd electric flight to jump ahead in leaps and bounds. With these light weight packs and brushless motors, speeds of over 170km were quite easily reached on the day. Thanks to a few very generous sponsors every registered pilot got to choose a prize from the 'Goodies Table'. Fortunately there were very few mishaps, and nothing that a drop of glue couldn't put back together. Here's just a sample of what was pulled out of the toy box for the day....
