Sorrento Fire Brigades Annual Dinner & Awards Night 2009

A number of Brigade members were recognised for their service at Sorrento’s annual dinner held at Sorrento Golf Club on 26th June 2009.

A National Medal was presented to Lieutenant Darren Croad by Westernport Operations Manager, Trevor  Owen.

Long service awards were presented to the following members: Firefighter Greg Salmon (40 years), Firefighter David Pitman (35 years) Lieutenant Jeff Willson (15 years), Secretary John Twist (10 years), Communications Officer Michelle Croad (10 Years), Lieutenant Anthony Nolan (5 years), Firefighter Stephen Axup (5 years) and  Firefighter Devitt Lith (5 years).

A number of members were recognised for their number of turnouts for the Brigade. Pewter mugs were presented by Life Member & Ex Captain Don Clark. Awarded were: Captain Cameron Stirling (1250), Firefighter Greg Salmon (1000), Lieutenant Rohan Deane (750) Lieutenant Jeff Willson (500), Communications Officer Michelle Croad (500) Firefighter Michael Versteegen (250) and Firefighter Cameron Barker (250). A special mug presentation was made to Secretary John Twist for his dedication to his role over the past 12 years.

Captain Cameron Stirling presented the Firefighter of the year award to Communications Officer Michelle Croad for her extraordinary effort during the February fires and the Captains Encouragement award was presented to Lieutenant Anthony Nolan. Competition team runner of the year was Adam Hyman and the Brigade “stuff up” award went to Firefighter Cameron Barker for his excellent driving skills!

A special presentation was to the outgoing Captain, Cameron Stirling and his wife Gail for his 7 years of dedicated service as Captain to the Sorrento Fire Brigade. Cameron has been a member of the Sorrento Fire Brigade since 1985, Captain since 2002, and will return to normal fire fighting duties from 1st July 2009.

FEM Servicing October 2009

Sorrento Fire Brigade wishes to advise clients that the October servicing has been completed. The next service is due is April 2010.
