ST THEODORE'S WATTLE PARK
OUR MISSION STRATEGY
We will achieve our mission by:
Exercising a team ministry with vision and drive in which we :
preach, teach and study God's word;
we see the maintenance of a ministry centred around Biblical and expository preaching and teaching as essential to our mission strategy.
Similarly we encourage membership of small groups where God's word can be studied together as well as regular Bible reading using some for of study outline (eg. SU notes)
pray for one another and the world;
it is our aim that prayer should be central to the life of the congregation and a priority in the lives of individuals. To this end we will encourage the formation and maintenance of small prayer groups and encourage those who lead our prayers in our Sunday services to continue to make these relevant
worship as the people of God;
we recognise the variety of experience and needs of our worshippers and seek to provide a corresponding variety of worship styles which will make our worship relevant to all who attend and where people's hearts are uplifted in praise and thanksgiving
provide opportunities for training in ministry;
we recognise the need to train those, both lay and ordained, who will minister among us.
reach the unreached or separated by means which are welcoming, challenging and relevant;
we recognise that our part in the great commission includes the sharing of the gospel with those around us in the Wattle Park area. To do that requires us to be outward looking, to be ready to change, if necessary, and to be prepared to share our faith with those we meet. This may require further training and will probably be facilitated by organised evangelistic events
care for one another in a loving and affirming way;
we see pastoral care as the responsibility of every member of the congregation, but recognise that this needs to be formalised to some extent to ensure that no-one 'falls between the cracks.'
serve the needy, and disadvantaged, the sick and the elderly of our community;
participate in the worldwide mission of the Church;
we wish to be part of the wider mission of the Church through our support of organisations involved in evangelism, Bible teaching and gospel centred aid work throughout the world.
fellowship with one another in a spirit of encouragement.
minister to children and families;
our ministry to families will be twofold:
- encouraging those who are Christians to persevere in the faith and to continue to grow together as couples and families
- using opportunities such as the Theo's Crew Kid's Club to share the gospel with those who haven't yet responded to it.
minister to youth
as with children and families our aim with youth ministry is twofold:
- to develop the faith of those who have already made a commitment to Christ
- to share the gospel with those who haven't.
minister to the retired
- by establishing a group for retired people
- by encouraging older members of the congregation to invite their friends to activities of the Church that would interest them
