The building is in need of extensive maintenance work in several fields, including guttering and flashing, and cement rendering, particularly on the pinnacles. Costs are currently being estimated for this work. We also need to have the stained glass windows refurbished and the organ fully rejuvenated. Meantime everything is serving its purpose satisfactorily.

The altar is set in the middle of the chancel. On the East End wall behind is a fine mosaic of the Last Supper, flanked by tall wooden sculptures of St Peter and St Paul. The choir stalls are on either side. The window above them is shown in more detail below.
The chancel
The East End window shows Saint Paul preaching in the areopagus (forum) in Athens. The text of his sermon is "... in whom we live and move and have our being".
The Pauline window
The woodwork of the cathedral shows excellent 18th century craftsmanship, and there are several fine wooden sculptures, including this Madonna and child by Melbourne sculptor Leopoldine Mimevich
Madonna
The tower houses a set of eight bells in the English tradition, which are rung every Sunday morning before the 10am service by a team of eight ringers.

The clock in the tower was installed in 1999 and dedicated in 2000 as a gift of the Myer family to commemorate the arrival in Australia of Sidney Myer, whose first Myer Store was opened in Bendigo. Sandhurst trustees also contributed to the installation of the clocks.
