Flower
and Sanctuary Guild
This is a group of 15 or
20 women who make sure the church is prepared for the various services.
They attend to the Alter
linen and candles, see to the supply of Bread and Wine and wafers for
communion, and prepare the church for the changing seasons of the church
year. Fresh flowers are arranged each week in the sanctuary and around
the church.
All these women are wonderfully
artistic, and present the church for a wedding in a most attractive
manner. They use the colour schemes designated by the brides, with the
flower arrangements and decorations on the ends of the pews.
The church is prepared through
the week for funerals and after the services again using fresh flowers
and appropriate use of candles.
A call
for new members:
Next year, several members
of the Sanctuary Guild will be retiring after many years of devoted
service.
We would love to hear from
anyone who would like to try this rewarding work. A job description
can be obtained from Kerry Ennis. The roster starts next February.
No special skills are required
as we all learnt on the job, and we helped and taught each other.
The commitment is about
one turn on the roster, doing the flowers on either Friday or Saturday
each six weeks.
Also, if anyone would like
to help to set up for the services, change the candies etc. 1 would
be very happy to work with them until they felt confident.
