The Choir
St. Oswald’s
has a long musical heritage which continues to be maintained by a good
SATB choir of about 15 voices under the direction of Roger Pryor, St
Oswald's Director of Music. All choir members
are also active parishioners.
The choir leads
the congregation in the hymns and the music of the liturgy and sings
an anthem at the 10am Eucharist on one Sunday each month, and at the
major festivals of the church year, including Holy Week and Easter and
Christmas.
On all other Sundays
members of the choir act as cantors.
A Festival of Carols
and Readings is presented before Christmas each year and the choir also
participates in non-liturgical parish celebrations.
Its musical repertoire
ranges from early to contemporary music and new members are always welcomed.
Choir
rehearsal is held in the church every Wednesday at 8pm.
