The World is a Crazy Place

Response from NGK (USA)
Question: The maker recommends NGK BR8ES but the package indicates not
to
use these in microlights? See the following page for photos of pack.(a link
to the pic above) What
should we do?
Answer: NGK Spark Plugs doesn't recommend any of our spark plugs in
aviation
applications. Are you using the terminal nuts or removing them?
Question: Yes the plugs I use have terminal nuts but I notice the Australian
Rotax dealer
supplies NGK plugs with integral terminal nuts. Am I right in thinking that
NGK doesn't recommend any of it's spark plugs in
aviation applications as it if afraid of possible litigation?
Answer: We make the solid terminal design. However you are correct
about the litigation issue.
Response from Bert Flood Imports
Question: I purchased some NGK BR8ES plugs for my 582 (as per the manual)
and
the pack indicates not to use them for trikes. Whats this all about?
Answer: The spark plug that Rotax recommend is the BR8ES However you
must make sure that you get the plug with the intergral steel top ie you cannot
remove the tip by unscrewing it. I dont know where you got your plugs as the
ones we get from Rotax do not come in the box that you have depicted, we get
them in boxes of 100 and they are only packed in foam and do not have the warning
that your ones do. I think you will find that NGK are just covering themselves.
