The Stawell Biarri Group for Genealogy Inc.is holding it's inaugural Western Victoria & South Eastern South Australia Family History Expo on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th October 2007. We have brought together Genealogy Groups, Local History Societies and Libraries from Western Victoria and South Eastern South Australia plus several special interest suppliers; altogether 30 stall-holders at a one-stop venue.
At present there are few opportunities for Groups/Societies in this region to participate in a large expo. Those currently held west of Melbourne are at Bendigo (March), Maryborough (September), Ballarat (October) and Mulwala (November). Our belief that there would be sufficient interest in an event held further to the west has been justified.
The relaxed atmosphere will allow people who have an interest in family history to gather information from a variety of sources, and purchase resources needed to further their research, whilst minimising the cost of travelling. Spring is also an ideal time to visit this region (the Grampians) for an extended stay.
Victorian Seniors Festival:
This Family History Expo has been approved as a Victorian Seniors Festival event. The Victorian Government is providing free public transport for Seniors
Card holders during the Victorian Seniors Festival 2007. If you are using free public transport follow the advice below. (More information included in "Downloads" section at the bottom of this page.)
