About Stawell and District U3A |
||||||
We are a group of mature people who meet each week at 8-22 Patrick Street in Stawell. Our programme consists of such diverse subject as painting and drawing, bridge, "on-line" courses, history, current affairs, language, cryptic X-words, creative writing, earth watch, singing/choir practice, book reviews, music appreciation. The continuous weekly courses are painting and drawing, bridge lessons, "on-line" courses, and Tai Chi classes which are held both at Stawell and Halls Gap. There are approximately 70 members and we differ from some other U3A groups in that all members are welcome to attend all sessions of their choice without enrolment. However, as with most U3A's we rely on the expertise and experience of our own members to conduct classes in their chosen fields and then request various speakers to inform us of their own interests/business ventures, e.g., travel, police/court procedures, health issues etc., We enjoy a very sociable atmosphere at Stawell U3A and as with most country towns the people are extremely welcoming and friendly, so together with our learning programmes we also enjoy various outings together and lunches where we can relax, have a glass of wine (or two), a good meal and the best of company. Why not come and join us? Stawell U3A's annual subscriptions are $20 per person and perspective members are very welcome to attend courses prior to joining. Our Committee |
