NEW RULES FOR RUNNING VERY FAST BOATS

The February saw the introduction of new rules for the safe running of very fast boats.

In summary the rules say:

1. Fast boats to be run on the hour of a period of 15 minutes.

2. A warning bell should be rung 10 minutes prior to the the running of fast boats.

3. Fast boats must operate in a clockwise direction around the buoys.

4. There will be NO racing.

5. A spotter will advise on the presence of hazards or wildlife.

6. Fast boats will reduce speed when nearest to the dock on the clockwise course.

7. Fast boats returning to the dock area will do so at slow speed.

8. Safety officers may terminate the operation of fast boats.
