The
Bead Head MagooIngredients for the Bead Head Magoo:
.

Start by crimping down the barb of the hook. This will increase the hook up
rate of this (and all) fly.
Place the bead on the hook, then place the hook in the
vice.

Tie on your thread and run it to the bend of the hook. Tie in a piece of marabou to match your desired color variation. Tear off some of the longer pieces of marabou in the tail to the length you want

Do not trim your marabou. Instead, tie it down, going towards the eye of the hook. Trim the excess at the eye, and tie the marabou down by running the thread back to the bend of the hook.
Take 3 or
4 strands of pearl flash and tie them in on each side and on top of the marabou
tail. Tie in a piece of fine copper wire, Tye in
peacock herl and wrap forward to make the body.
Wrap the peacock herl first and then 4-6 wraps of
fine copper wire. If this is tied in the opposite direction to the peacock herl, it will make the fly more durable.
Next prepare the
hackle by stripping off the webby fibers. Make sure to leave your self a decent
sized stem to tie into the fly.
Tie in your
prepared feather just behind the bead. Use several wraps in front of and behind
the feather stem to secure it firmly.
Wrap
three turns of hackle directly behind the bead. Tie off and whip finish.
